Color Discovery

Time Management is not always one of my strengths. That having been said, it is late, it is raining, and I have hot chocolate. What else would I want to do other than design or start watching Christmas movies?!? I chose to design…and listed to Christmas music! And I found myself wanting to play with color. Well, I have this cool litte widget from the creative folks over at Sherwin-Williams called “Chip It”! Best designer timewaster/projectstarter/mood-tamer ever. It’s seriously therapeutic. ┬áBut, I had some fun and thought I would share it here!

Fresh and grounded simultaneously, this vintage palette gives a range of hues that could easily be used in a traditional setting or modern space.

I love this exotic palette drawn from a gilded door in a faraway land. Amazing pairing of cool and warm tones… with the all-basic Tricorn Black!

The tangerine has a lively burst of flavor– but it doesn’t stop as a culinary delight! This collection could be employed wonderfully in an open-plan kitchen and den area. It could be equally successful on a southern front porch.

Lastly, this tried and true combination of regal hues gets an update by not giving true-colored hues but neutral-toned cousins of gold, crimson, taupe, grey and black. Although, I’m going to be honest…I really wanted to see the pink in this palette, not the crimson! Another time….another time.

A Nursery Is Born!

There is nothing sweeter than a nursery…

…and for the last month I have been working on this sweet room for a baby girl arriving in early spring! Our inspiration was made of the usual things: amazing furniture pieces sculpted by senior artisans in the north of France… Belgian linen with hand-embroidered silk accents…antique bird cages crafted of spun gold — oh WAIT– did I say the USUAL things? Sometimes you really MUST BE inspired by the unusual! The offbeat. The amazingly decadent. Because nothing says mediocre like being inspired by the mundane.

So here’s a little sneak peek of our inspirations… stay tuned for the floorplan and selected pieces from the final sourcebook.
